Shiraz Persian rugs are made in villages around the city of Shiraz in Iran.  The rug in this picture is no shiraz – but it contains the remnants of a fine bottle of South Australian Shiraz red wine.

  1. I used to have a large Chinese rug in my living/dining room, complimenting the Parquet flooring underneath. The flooring has long since been covered with carpet since the days when my children were toddlers in case they fell. Under the beautiful Parquet was a solid concrete floor, which could do a fair bit of damage if fallen on.

Is this your rug, dear friend? A waste of good wine, perhaps (not that I drink), although it does compliment the colour of the rug really well. Forty years is a good time for a rug to last. It’s rather lovely.
